The Comfort of Online Cat Food Shopping and Coupons

By Nadav Snir

Shopping, especially shopping for cat food, has recently become a very expensive pleasure. First, prices went up, so you can buy less with what you have. Second, you must drive to the supermarket or pet store to purchase food for your cat, and driving is also expensive these days. The only solution for this problem is shopping online. There are many reasons to shop online for cat food, and eventually it can save big sums of money.

First, online shopping is very comfortable. You can sit in front of your computer, pick the food your cat likes most, and have it shipped to you in one click. Instead of carrying ten pounds of food with your hands, someone else is doing it for you. This gives you more time to spend with your cat instead of more time to waste shopping for your cat.

Online food purchases also save you money. When you are shopping online, you pay absolutely nothing for that pleasure. When you need to drive to the local pet store, you need to pay for gasoline, a very expensive resource in today's world. Buying food for your cat while sitting on your computer chair is not only comfortable, it is also gas saving.

Safety and security is a big concern when shopping online, but there is nothing to fear. Websites today secure their shopping pages in such ways that it is practically impossible to get even one digit of your credit card number. You can be sure that your purchase is safe. Only your cat and you know what you ordered.

Finally, one of the greatest advantages of online shopping is the ability to use coupons that can cut up to 10% of your entire order. Check out the available cat food coupons at Great-Info-Products.com for more information.

Raw Cat Food - Turning the Health of Your Cat Around

By Madeleine Innocent

A friend's daughter, Susan, was house and cat sitting, something she enjoys and which gives her an additional income. She was concerned for the cat though, as he was dirty, smelled, and looked ragged and thin.

Now, healthy cats NEVER smell, are dirty or look ragged. Or are thin, for that matter, although neither is an obese cat healthy. So I asked her what the diet was, knowing full well what the reply would be.

And it was. Dried food, out of a box. OK, so it wasn't up to Susan what the cat was fed, but she takes her responsibilities seriously and was concerned the cat wouldn't last until the people returned from their long holiday. And the cat is very affectionate and wants to sleep with her. She'd prefer not to share her bed with a smelly, dirty cat and feels bad about it.

What could she do? So I suggested she feed the cat raw cat food. I told her what food to buy and how to manage the change over. Older cats converting to raw cat food are likely to experience a toxin purge. Unless you're prepared for it, it can look as if your cat's health is rapidly deteriorating. It isn't, it's just having a good spring clean.

Young cats don't have such a toxin build up, so when their diet is changed to raw cat food, they don't experience the same purge. Sure enough, once the raw cat food was started, Susan saw signs of a toxin purge. She was glad I'd prepared her, as it did look a bit alarming for a couple of days.

By the fourth day, she told me, the cat just seemed more content. On day six of the raw cat food diet, Susan reported that the cat was washing himself. On day nine of the raw cat food diet, she said the cat was eagerly looking forward to his meal, and ate it with gusto, consuming every scrap.

By day twelve of the raw cat food diet, she told me the cat was almost like a normal cat - clean, smelled sweet, was filling out, was content and gave her no concern whatsoever for his chances of survival. And she was happily sharing her bed with him by now, too.

It's great to report that the cat's people were amazed at the different cat they came home to. One can only hope that they retained the raw cat food diet Susan had had the courage to implement.

This cat was in his middle years, so the purging period at the start of his new raw cat food diet was a bit shorter than an older cat might experience.

It's worth every minute of the disdain your cat will treat you with in the early days, while they acclimatise to raw cat food. They may look at you accusingly, refuse the food, paw the food as if to bury it, turn their back at you, the works.

Keep your eye on the long term health gain.

Best Cat Food - How to Make it Yourself

By Madeleine Innocent

You're searching around, looking for the best cat food perhaps because you have a new kitten and want to provide her with the best. Or perhaps it's because you seem to have had a lot of illnesses with your past cats and are now wondering if the diet could be partly responsible.

Well, let me tell you that categorically, without a shadow of doubt, diet is all important to anyone's health, including that of your cat.

Providing the best cat food will be the biggest step towards keeping your cat as healthy as possible.

But what is the best cat food?

Cats have spent a long time evolving to their present state. Many millions of years, in fact. Many tens of millions of years.

Over that time, they have perfectly adapted to the food that is available to them on a regular basis.

Whatever gives us the idea that we, as a species, can better that?

Whilst advertising, with it's pretty pictures and fine words, may tell us 'science' has improved a cats diet, rest assured it hasn't. The advertising remains just that - pretty pictures and fine words, aimed at improving the health of the manufacturers bank balance rather than the health of your cat.

So let's go back to the earlier question - what is the best cat food?

There is not a shadow of doubt that the best cat food is that which is so close to a wild cat's diet as to be almost identical.

OK, I'm not asking you to go out and catch mice - your cat can do a better job of that than you can.

Let's look at a wild cat's diet. Cats kill their prey and eat it all immediately. They aren't opportunist eaters, like dogs, who are happy to eat carrion. So what does this tell us?

  • the best cat food must be raw

  • the best cat food must be fresh

  • the best cat food must contain bones

  • the best cat food must include organ meat

  • the best cat food must be varied

That's quite a daunting list for someone new to the idea of not opening a box or can for your cat's dinner.

And there is a bit to learn to apply those principles.

But it is really easy, once you get to know the basics and how to apply them.

Your cat will think she's died and gone to heaven...

Why Feed Your Cat Raw Cat Food?

By Joseph Sawvel

So, why should you consider feeding your cat raw cat food? Well, first of all, it is healthier for your cat. When you cook food, natural enzymes are destroyed. Food naturally has enzymes in it that your cats body needs for digestion. When your cat´s food is cooked, these natural enzymes are destroyed.

Like humans, a cat´s body has the ability to produce enzymes, but its liver and other organs must work harder to produce the enzymes that are destroyed in cooking. Sweet food naturally contains an enzyme called amylase for digesting sugars. There are other enzymes contained in raw food for digesting fats called lipase.

When cat food is cooked, these natural enzymes are destroyed, leaving the food devoid of nutritional value. It has also been shown that many vitamins are also destroyed during cooking.

Cats have been adapted to eating raw food for thousands of years in the wild. There digestive systems work best with raw food. Humans introduce an unnatural element into a cats diet by cooking their food as if a cat were human. On that note, humans can also benefit greatly from a raw food diet.

Raw cat food can be prepared at home using ingredients that you can easily buy from the store. It only takes a few minutes each day and will be better for the health of your cat. If you don´t have the time to prepare raw cat food for your cat each day, consider buying a variety of raw cat food.

Exercise Techniques in Cats

By James Gosling

Cats are basically predators and they will hunt down their prey instinctively. If you have a cat at home then you need to first get pet supplies for your cat so that he is always fit and healthy. But remember, in spite of the fact that you feed them if they see a rat they will still pounce instinctively and kill it. But house cats can sometimes become lazy and sleep their time off. There are certain exercise techniques that you can follow to keep them agile, awake and fit.

What Works?

Cats can be a little trickier because the type of play that they engage in is different than that of dogs. Cats engage in either social play, which is the romp, wrestle, and chase that you see between litter mates or between cats living in the same household. Or they engage in object play, which is where they will stalk, pounce, chase and play with an object so they can kill it. Object play is what you should focus on when it comes to exercising your cat. There are many interactive type play toys on the market that work, and many can be found in pet supplies stores. Several of these are detailed later. Whatever game you and your cat enjoy will work, just remember to keep up the pace for fifteen minutes.

What are the benefits?

The benefits you will experience for a regular exercise routine are endless.

• Pets who have had their bodies and their minds stimulated by regular play tend to act out problem behaviors less frequently

• Your pet will be gaining social skills by interacting with you on a regular basis

• The bond between you and your pet will be strengthened, creating an even happier home life for you both.

• You will get exercise right along side your pet

• Your pet's health will be improved so that they can live a longer and healthier life

Here are a few exercise that your cat can do on a regular basis to keep fit. Apart from exercise, you should always take him to the vet whenever possible and get pet health check-up done. Pet supplies are also important because only if your cat eats well will he be able to stay fit through exercise. So assuming that you have the pet supplies and have got a pet health check-up done, here are some exercises:

• Use a toy that is interactive for your cat and either has a rat tail or bird feathers. Move it like the rat or like a bird and see your cat leap and trying to catch it. This exercise is great for their predatory skills too.

• Set up a box, and make tunnels that are soft-sided. These will be like small or mini obstacle courses that will not only help your cat get his quota of physical exercise and predatory skills but will keep him healthy and fit always. There are plenty of tunnels, small walls, boxes that can be made using cardboard. But remember if you are putting your cat through exercise then you need to feed him well too and hence always have ready pet supplies.

• Cats like anything that moves even if it is a tennis ball or a yarn ball. Get a tennis ball for him and watch him play with it as the ball keeps moving. If you are lucky, you will get to see him play some serious soccer!

• You can encourage your cat to scratch by using an interactive toy near a tall post. This will enable cats to stretch, which will help tone the muscles of their back and shoulders, and the overall pet health.

• Toy balls on a slick surface floor can peek some kitties interest

• Catnip toys can also aid in getting your cat into the game

• Laser toys are a big plus with many cats (Though hazardous if pointed in the eyes)

As well as all of these techniques you can also create a fake tree inside your home or let your cat jump off the branches of a small tree in your garden. This kind of exercise will help him to improve his balance as well as coordination.

Siamese Cat Body Types

By Gay L. Miller

Many people, excluding breeders and individuals who attend cat shows, are costumed to seeing the beautiful round-headed seal point Siamese cats here, there, and everywhere. We see them at people's houses, outside, and in our own homes. This is basically normal. Those who have one or want one might be a little curious and may want to know a little bit more about this beauty of a cat. When I acquired my first Siamese I was interested in knowing more about them. I went to a pet store (back then the internet did not have pictures); I opened the book to a picture of a Siamese and behold, what I saw was a very thin bodied, long tapered face, huge ears of a cat! This was a Siamese? In today's world the Siamese cat has two basic body types: The Traditional (Applehead) Siamese, and the extreme (Wedgehead Siamese).

The Wedge head Siamese is very slender and elegant. This more "modern cat" is a pedigree cat or show style. It has a very lean, muscular body that is supported by long, graceful legs, with an elongated neck and tail. The head is smooth and wedge shape with large ears. The eyes are almond shape and are set at a slant. The eyes of this type of Siamese cat are very captivating. The coat is short and sleek, and accentuates the points. This is the type of Siamese that is favored in the cat shows. I have been to cat shows and seen them. It is interesting to see one up close, they are really gorgeous!

The Traditional Siamese, also known as an Applehead, has a much rounder body and head. Overall it is a heavier, huskier cat. These cats also have prominent points and astonishing blue eyes. Devoted followers of this type of Siamese claim that the apple head is similar to what the original Siamese looked like before breeders selectively breed for the more refined characteristics of the wedge head Siamese. The Applehead is the most popular of the Siamese as pets. So I would say that most ordinary people and cat lovers would most likely have one of these instead of the Wedgehead.

It is basically a matter of preference because people do own Wedgehead Siamese as just pets and not for show cats. If you are contemplating getting a Siamese, it is nice to have a choice. Both have exotic coloring and energetic personalities. My personal choice, well I have always owned Appleheads, but to be perfectly honest, my dream is to raise and show Wedgehead Siamese Cats.

Oral Cat Care

By Debbie Foster

Looking after your pet's dental hygiene is a primary responsibility of any pet owner, so begin your cat tooth care today instead of waiting till next February. In case you are wondering why February is mentioned, it is because two mega associations, The United States American Veterinarian Medicine Association or the AVMA, and the American Veterinary Dental Society or the AVDS, have decided to do something special during the month of February.

These two groups tagged what used to be the month for couples as the Cat Dental Health month where they both develop and carry out steps in preparing pet owners like you toward how to care for the oral needs of your family pets every day. These two acknowledged groups know how important it is to take good care of the oral needs of your family pets. Their ardent desire is to dedicate a month in the year for the oral care of your pet, whatever that pet may be.

Were you aware that about 85 percent of mature pets have dental diseases? Were you also aware that this is one of the most common causes of health related problems with cats? If you don't pay attention to those oral ailments, more problems may surface. If not treated effectively, harmful elements like bacteria from the oral cavity can spread throughout the bloodstream. This in turn could infect other essential organs and ultimately lead to the death of your beloved cat.

A cat's teeth should be cleaned everyday, and you have to take this as your obligation. This may not be easy for you to do alone, so utilize another member of the household to gently hold open your cat's mouth so you can then clean its teeth comfortably. Your feline friend may not like the procedure at first but it is for their own good. If your cat has their claws, you'll want to wear some protective clothing while they get used to the process. Starting this as a kitten is best as then it's not a big thing. If starting later in your cat's life, both of you will have to get acquainted to the process. To make it a little easier for your cat, try using a fish flavored toothpaste. It makes sense to be in touch with your vet regarding the oral care of your family pets. When visiting your vet, they will check your cat's gum and teeth to provide any additional recommendations, if required.

Oral care for your cat should begin as kittens to prevent future ill health as the cat ages. If you have endured painful teeth, you can relate to the pain your cat must be experiencing when there are tooth problems. If not taken care of, your cat could be prone to heart, lung, liver and kidney problems. Effective oral care will help to ensure that your cat grows older gracefully and in good health. By taking the required actions, you are preparing your family pets to have a less painful life as they mature.
